Your Questions, Answered

  • Your first visit with us is a little more in-depth—it usually takes about 60 minutes so we can really understand what’s going on and create the best plan for you.

If you’re able to fill out your paperwork ahead of time, that helps us make the most of your time in the office.

After that, most visits are quick and efficient—typically around 5–15 minutes. If we’re doing something like acupuncture or cupping, those appointments will be closer to 30 minutes so you have time to fully relax and get the benefits.

  • Right after your adjustment, a lot of people feel some immediate relief—they’ll notice they feel more relaxed, a little looser, and just overall better.

That said, everyone responds a bit differently. Some people feel changes right away, while for others it can take a little more time—and that’s completely normal. Your body is unique, and it heals at its own pace.

What we do know from research is that adjustments can support things like your immune system, help normalize blood pressure, and allow your nervous system to start regulating the way it’s supposed to.

Because of that, some people notice better sleep, more energy, and improved mental clarity—even if they’re still working through some pain.

It’s also possible to feel a little sore for 2–3 days after an adjustment. If that happens, it’s usually very similar to that “good soreness” you feel after getting back into the gym—your body is just adapting and responding to the work we did.

  • A lot of people are familiar with more traditional chiropractic care, which often focuses on where you’re feeling pain and getting you quick relief.

While that can absolutely have its place, our approach goes a bit deeper. We’re not just looking to help you feel better for the moment—we’re focused on helping you actually get better long-term.

At IMS, we combine muscle work, specific adjustments, and guidance around things like nutrition and gut health so your body can function the way it was designed to.

Because at the end of the day, your body isn’t just a structure—it’s a system. If you’re only addressing one piece, you’ll keep finding yourself back in the same cycle.

A simple way to think about it: you wouldn’t expect your car to run well without putting gas in it… so why treat your body any differently? When you support the full system, that’s when real, lasting change happens.

  • It all comes back to how your body actually functions.

Your nervous system controls everything—how you move, how you feel, how you heal. That’s where chiropractic care plays a huge role. But your body also needs the right fuel and environment to support that healing—and that’s where nutrition and gut health come in.

If your gut isn’t functioning well, you’re not properly absorbing nutrients, your inflammation levels can stay high, and your body has a much harder time recovering—even if you’re getting great adjustments.

So instead of just addressing one piece of the puzzle, we bring everything together. We support your nervous system through chiropractic care, and we support your body from the inside out with nutrition and gut health.

That combination is what allows your body to not only feel better—but actually heal and perform the way it’s supposed to.

  • Chiropractic care is very safe. It’s a non-surgical, non-invasive, and drug-free approach to supporting your health.

In fact, chiropractors have some of the lowest malpractice rates across all healthcare fields, which speaks to how safe and effective this type of care can be.

One of the things people love most is that we’re not adding anything to your body or taking anything away—no medications, no surgeries, no invasive procedures. We’re simply helping your body function the way it was designed to.

When you look at it that way, it’s a pretty natural approach. Instead of relying on things that can come with side effects or added stress on the body, we’re focused on working with your body to help it heal and perform better.

  • Here’s the honest truth—everyone is different, and your results will depend on a lot of factors.

One of the biggest is how long you’ve been dealing with the issue. In general, the longer something has been going on, the more time your body will need to fully work through it. It wouldn’t be realistic to expect everything to be resolved after just one adjustment.

Your body didn’t get into this pattern overnight, and true healing doesn’t happen overnight either.

Some people do feel better right away, which is great. Others start noticing changes after a few weeks or months of consistent care. It really just depends on how much stress, compensation, and patterning your body has been holding onto.

In some cases, people may even feel a little worse before they feel better. That can happen as your body starts to unwind old patterns—sometimes even bringing previous injuries or symptoms to the surface as it works through deeper layers and finally addresses the root cause.

What’s important to know is that with each adjustment, your body is moving in the right direction and functioning better over time.

A good way to think about it is like working out or even braces—real, lasting change takes consistency and repetition.

  • We’re so glad you’re feeling better—that’s amazing!

But here’s something really important to understand: feeling fine isn’t always the same as functioning well.

Think back to our friend “Pain”—the worst employee ever. He’s usually the last to show up and one of the first to leave. By the time you feel pain, dysfunction has often been building for months… sometimes even years.

And when the pain goes away, it doesn’t always mean everything underneath is fully resolved.

A simple way to think about it—if your check engine light turns off, does that automatically mean your car is fixed? Or could the issue still be there, just not showing up right now? Your body works in a very similar way.

That’s why we talk about maintenance and wellness care. True health isn’t something you fix once—it’s something you continue to support.

    Just like:
    • You brush your teeth daily to prevent cavities
    • You exercise to stay healthy, not just when something hurts
    • You change your oil to prevent bigger issues down the road

Taking care of your body works the same way.

Ongoing chiropractic care helps keep your nervous system functioning at its best so your body can continue to adapt, heal, and handle everyday stress—whether that’s work, family, sleep, or just life being unpredictable.

It also helps protect all the progress you’ve already made, so you don’t end up back at square one needing more intensive care again.

The good news is, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. We’ll help you find a maintenance plan that fits your lifestyle, stress levels, and goals—whether that’s weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

At the end of the day, it’s about helping you not just feel better—but continue to stay better.

  • The truth is, every person and every case is different, so we can’t give you an exact number of visits without first understanding what’s really going on.

Once we’ve had a chance to go through your health history, learn about your goals, and perform our comprehensive assessment, we’ll be able to create a personalized plan that actually makes sense for you.

We’ll walk you through everything at your first visit after we’ve fully evaluated and analyzed what your body is telling us.

Here’s what you can expect from us:
    • We’ll be completely transparent about what we find and what we recommend
    • We’ll explain why you need the care we’re suggesting—no guessing, no “just come back and trust us”
    • We’ll work with your schedule and your family’s needs so care feels realistic and sustainable

At the end of the day, our goal is to create a plan that helps you get results while still fitting into your real life.

  • We know cost is an important factor for families, and we really appreciate you asking.

The honest answer is—because every person and situation is different, we can’t give an exact cost until we’ve had a chance to evaluate you and understand what’s truly going on.

What we can tell you is that chiropractic care is not only effective for a wide range of health concerns, but it’s also one of the most cost-effective approaches to healthcare—especially when you’re focused on addressing the root cause instead of just managing symptoms.

Once you complete your initial consultation and assessment, we’ll create a personalized care plan based on your needs and goals. At that point, we’ll walk you through all the financials clearly and answer any questions you have—no surprises, ever.

We also want you to know this: keeping care affordable for families is really important to us. We’ve seen too many people go without the care they need because of cost, and that’s not how we do things.

We’ll work with you to create a plan that fits your budget while still helping you get real results.

At the end of the day, this is an investment in your long-term health—helping you prevent bigger issues down the road, reduce missed work and stress, and improve your overall quality of life.

And when you look at the alternative—ongoing appointments, medications, or more intensive care later on—most people find this ends up being one of the best investments they can make for themselves and their family.

  • That’s a great question—and one we get all the time.

We are considered out-of-network with insurance companies, but we’re happy to provide you with a detailed receipt (called a superbill) that you can submit for possible reimbursement. Some of our patients do receive partial or even full reimbursement depending on their specific plan and benefits.

Now, you might be wondering why we choose to operate this way—and it’s actually very intentional.

Being out-of-network allows us to focus on what you truly need, not what an insurance company decides to cover. We’re not limited by visit caps, restricted treatment options, or being forced to focus only on short-term pain relief.

Instead, we’re able to take a more comprehensive approach—looking at your body as a whole and creating a plan that supports real, long-term results.

The reality is, insurance is often designed around crisis care—things like injuries or emergencies—not necessarily ongoing wellness, prevention, or addressing root causes through things like nutrition and nervous system support.

By operating this way, we’re able to stay aligned with the level of care we believe you deserve.

The good news is, many patients find that our pricing is very comparable to—sometimes even more affordable than—insurance-based offices, especially with our family options and flexible payment plans.

And most importantly, you’re getting care that’s focused on actually helping you improve and stay well—not just managing symptoms short-term.

If you have questions about your specific insurance, we’re always happy to walk you through it and help you understand your options. Our goal is to make care as simple and accessible as possible for you and your family.

  • Yes—chiropractors are absolutely doctors.

While most people casually say “chiropractor,” the official title is Doctor of Chiropractic (DC).

Now, chiropractors aren’t Medical Doctors (MDs) or Osteopathic Doctors (DOs), but they go through years of extensive education and training to become licensed professionals. We’re talking rigorous coursework in anatomy, physiology, pathology, biochemistry, and more—we study the body in depth.

Where things differ is in the approach.

Medical doctors are highly trained in areas like medications and surgery, while chiropractors spend that same level of time focusing on things like:
    • The nervous system and how it controls the body
    • Movement and spinal health
    • Nutrition and how it impacts overall function
    • Hands-on techniques to improve how the body moves and heals

So while the paths are different, the level of education and professionalism is absolutely there.

A simple way to think about it: medical doctors are experts in medication and surgical care, while chiropractors specialize in helping the body function and heal the way it’s designed to—by supporting the nervous system and removing interference.

Both have their place. We just take a more natural, function-focused approach to helping you feel and perform at your best.

  • We love this question because it really shows how much goes into becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic.

Before even getting into a doctorate program, students have to complete a strong foundation in the sciences—things like chemistry, anatomy, physiology, pathology, and physics.

Once in chiropractic school, the training becomes even more specialized. That’s where we dive deep into areas like:
    • Neurology (the nervous system and how it controls the body)
    • Radiology (analyzing X-rays and imaging)
    • Orthopedics and injury assessment
    • Differential diagnosis (figuring out what’s going on and when to refer out)
    • Microbiology, including bacteriology and virology

And while chiropractors don’t prescribe medications or perform surgery, a big part of our education focuses on how to support the body naturally—through things like nutrition, movement, and nervous system function.

We also spend thousands of hours learning and practicing adjusting techniques. This is something that takes real hands-on training—it’s not just learned from a book.

Before graduating, students complete clinical internships where they work with real patients under supervision to build confidence and skill.

And even after all of that, we still have to pass multiple national board exams and state licensing exams before we can practice.

For many chiropractors, the learning doesn’t stop there. It’s common to continue training after graduation—working alongside experienced doctors and constantly refining skills to provide the best care possible.
